Capita’s accreditation revoked
19th January, 2024
We announce with sadness and disappointment that we have had to revoke Capita’s GBC accreditation with immediate effect following their recent announcement that they are no longer committing to paying the real living wage. Good Business Charter accreditation requires commitment to all 10 components, the first of which is paying the real living wage.
Whilst we are mindful of the challenges the increase in real living wage will pose, we remain committed to this independently calculated rate of pay which needs to be for all directly employed and regularly contracted workers.
We want to take this opportunity to thank Capita for their commitment to the launch of the Good Business Charter in 2020 and recognise the effort put in to follow through on their initial commitment to pay the real living wage in spite of then suddenly faced with the Covid-19 pandemic.
They were the first company to accredit with the GBC and were proud to do so. They are also one of very few large companies to have an employee representative on their Board, for which they should be commended.
We hope they will reconsider their decision in due course and choose to pay the real living wage.
