National Awareness Campaign to Champion Ethical Business Launches Today

Monday 3rd February 2025 - Good Business Charter accreditation scheme shines spotlight on good business practices.

Building on the success of Good Business Week 2024, the Good Business Charter (GBC) launches Good Business Fortnight – a nationwide campaign dedicated to raising awareness of why good business matters.
Shining a light on ethical business
Jenny Herrera, CEO of the Good Business Charter, commented:
“We are all tired of hearing the scandals we read in the news each day, of mistreated workers or unsustainable practices impacting on our planet or companies avoiding paying their tax. With this campaign we are taking two weeks to showcase the good companies and public and third sector organisations, campaigning for fair and responsible treatment of stakeholders and walking the walk in their own practices. The public are demanding businesses act responsibly – this is an opportunity to share ideas, celebrate good practice and inspire one another to do even more to champion people and planet.”
The campaign is backed by key partners championing different GBC components including partner campaigns Living Wage Foundation and Fair Tax Foundation. Leading companies on this agenda include Aviva, Brompton Bicycle, Legal & General and TSB as well as many other partner organisations and networks.
Responsible business in action
The campaign launches with Responsible Business Monday, spearheaded by Good Business Charter accredited Institute of Directors (IoD) and Schroders Personal Wealth. Last autumn, the IoD published a voluntary Code of Conduct for Directors which included responsible business as one of its six principles.
Schroders Personal Wealth publishes an annual responsible business report aligned with the 10 components of the Good Business Charter in an accessible, clear way that aligns with what the general public are crying out for. Both organisations exemplify truly embedding responsible business behaviour, choosing to be transparent and hold themselves to account through accreditation to the GBC.
Joel Ripley, Chief Financial Officer at national wealth management business Schroders Personal Wealth said:
The Good Business Charter reflects the business standards that are important to Schroders Personal Wealth and which I am genuinely passionate about. We are privileged to kick the fortnight off as Responsible Business champions, recognition of how seriously we have taken the task of embedding responsible business behaviour throughout the business.
Dr. Roger Barker, Director of Policy and Corporate Governance at Institute of Directors (IoD) said:
“The Institute of Directors is proud to support Good Business Fortnight and celebrate businesses making a positive impact. We encourage businesses to take this chance to embrace responsible practices and explore how businesses can contribute to a sustainable future while driving success.”
Join the movement
Good Business Fortnight runs from 3rd to 14th February.  Organisations are encouraged to run activities in their workplace to highlight good business practices such as employee wellbeing, environmental responsibility and ethical sourcing and shout about why these practices matter.
