Join us for Good Business Fortnight: a celebration of responsible business

Good Business Fortnight will be taking place from 3rd to 14th February 2025, bringing together businesses and individuals committed to responsible practices to celebrate achievements, share knowledge and drive change.

Too often what we read about in the news are the scandals and examples of businesses behaving badly.  Interestingly, the assumption is that all businesses are behaving responsibly until we hear they are not!  Alas, that is not accurate.

At the end of 2023 we took the decision to soft launch a Good Business Week and chose early February to tie in with the anniversary of when the Good Business Charter launched, on 10th February 2020.  We were delighted by the response to Good Business Week 2024 with accredited organisations posting case studies and quotes on why #GoodBusinessMatters to them, as well as organising activities with their team.  An ethically sourced cake sale was our favourite.

It was also encouraging to see a range of organisations share our social media posts including Fair Tax Mark, the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and the Small Business Commissioner.  The Good Business Charter covers such a wide range of issues that many campaign on so tirelessly and we were grateful for opportunities to amplify their messages too as part of the week.

Good Business Fortnight 2025

Building on the success of Good Business Week we are excited to announce that this coming February we will be expanding our week-long awareness event into an inspiring fortnight, giving us the opportunity to dedicate each day to one of our components!  This year marks five years of the Good Business Charter, making February a particularly special time for us which we are looking forward to celebrating as we reflect on the progress made in championing ethical and sustainable business.

The awareness fortnight will celebrate the outstanding efforts of businesses across the UK in championing responsible practices and making a positive impact on society and the environment. But it’s more than just celebration; it’s a catalyst for change.

We aim to showcase how ethical conduct benefits businesses, communities and the planet, fostering a culture where responsibility is not just encouraged but expected. Through this platform, we’ll illustrate that profitability and purpose can thrive side by side, challenging the misconception that ethical practices are a trade-off for growth.

Why good business matters

Good business practices are essential for the long-term success of organisations, communities and the planet. As consumers, employees and investors increasingly seek out ethical and sustainable organisations, businesses that prioritise transparency, fairness and responsibility are better positioned to earn trust and loyalty. Responsible practices not only enhance reputation but also drive resilience and innovation, enabling businesses to navigate challenges and seize new opportunities.

Beyond individual success, good business creates a ripple effect that benefits society as a whole. From reducing environmental impact to promoting fairness and inclusivity, ethical organisations contribute to a healthier planet and more equitable communities. By leading the way, businesses inspire others to raise their standards, proving that profit and purpose can go hand in hand. Good Business Fortnight celebrates this vision, championing organisations that are making a difference and encouraging others to follow their example.
