Good Business Charter welcomes new, strategic accreditations during Good Business Fortnight campaign
Peabody Housing Association becomes the first housing association to accredit with the Good Business Charter and West Thames College leads the way for further education colleges as public sector employers take their responsibility to people and planet seriously.
Ian McDermott, Chief Executive of Peabody, said:
“Residents expect us to maintain high ethical standards, and we hold ourselves to the same standards. This accreditation reinforces our commitment to putting people and the planet first in all we do, and I’m hoping other like-minded organisations in the housing sector and beyond will join us in becoming accredited.”
Make UK became the latest trade association to accredit and encourage its members to follow suit. COO, Ben Fletcher, said:
“The Good Business Charter has made a valuable contribution to how businesses operate – giving a clear pathway for companies of all sizes to integrate good practice at the heart of their strategic thinking and operating models.
Showing colleagues, customers and stakeholders that they are valued is not only important but delivers tangible benefits for those businesses that have embedded responsible behaviour and cultural equality in their day-to-day activities.”
Good Business Fortnight 2025, held from 3rd to 14th February, has once again demonstrated the power of ethical business practices in driving positive change. This annual initiative, led by the Good Business Charter (GBC), has brought together organisations from across the UK to showcase and celebrate responsible business leadership.
The fortnight served as a platform to champion ethical business behaviour, shifting the focus away from negative corporate practices and instead highlighting organisations making a tangible difference. From fair pay and employee wellbeing to ethical sourcing and sustainability, the campaign showcased best practices and inspired others to follow suit. Businesses across the UK participated by hosting events, sharing case studies and engaging their employees and customers in discussions about responsible business.
A major highlight of the fortnight was the introduction of Good Business Fortnight Champions and Partners—organisations demonstrating exceptional commitment to the Good Business Charter’s principles. This included Aviva, Which?, Brompton Bicycle, Ethical Trading Initiative, Legal and General and many more, who came together to illustrate the real-world impact of ethical business operation through webinars, blogs and social media engagement.

Awards were presented to these champions at a very special event to mark the Good Business Charter’s 5th anniversary at the TUC’s headquarters, with a keynote speech from Deputy Prime Minister, Angela Rayner, who congratulated the Good Business Charter and its accredited organisations for leading the charge to build a fairer economy.

As the awareness campaign concludes, the Good Business Charter invites businesses to take the next step by seeking accreditation, ensuring their commitment to ethical practices is both recognised and held to account.
