Good Business Charter components in action
11th June, 2024
Welcome to our latest blog series, where we take a look at our components in action through our small accredited businesses.
In this series, we present a collection of insightful case studies that highlight how our small accredited organisations have truly embedded and championed the GBC framework, showcasing real-world examples of how businesses can thrive whilst encouraging responsible business behaviour for the benefit of people and planet.
Our first case study examines the impact of implementing the real living wage (RLW). The benefits of paying the RLW extend far beyond the immediate financial relief for employees, this study highlights how fair pay has transformed workplaces.
Our second case study explores how organisations that prioritise employee wellbeing experience numerous benefits, such as reduced absenteeism, lower turnover rates and higher job satisfaction. Through the experiences of our accredited organisations, we demonstrate how a focus on wellbeing leads to happier, more productive and loyal employees.
This case study highlights the importance of employee representatives, trade unions and forums in safeguarding vulnerable workers and promoting the best ideas. By featuring stories from accredited organisations, we illustrate how these practices build trust, empower employees and contribute to the organisations’ sustained success.
Equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) are essential for any business that aims to thrive. Diverse teams bring varied perspectives, leading to better business outcomes. Our fourth case study examines how accredited organisations have embraced EDI, resulting in more inclusive cultures and improved performance.
This case study focuses on the sustainability efforts of accredited organisations, highlighting their commitment to reducing environmental harm and working towards a net-zero future. As millennials increasingly prioritise social and environmental commitments in their career choices, these organisations are also attracting and retaining top talent.
Our sixth case study explores how accredited organisations are leading by example in customer commitment, dealing fairly with complaints, and fulfilling client needs. Positive customer experiences not only boost sales but also enhance the organisation’s reputation in an age of widespread online reviews.
This final case study highlights how accredited organisations adhere to the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) Base Code for Sourcing, ensuring fairness, dignity and human rights throughout their supply chains. By prioritising ethical sourcing, these organisations uphold the highest standards and set a strong example for others to follow.
Through these case studies, we celebrate the remarkable efforts of our accredited organisations in promoting fair pay, employee wellbeing, representation, diversity, environmental responsibility, customer commitment and ethical sourcing. Each story provides valuable insights and practical examples of how businesses can achieve success while fostering positive change.
