About the Good Business Charter

The Good Business Charter is a straightforward responsible business accreditation, accessible to organisations of all sizes. It raises the standard for responsible business in the UK and serves as a clear, trusted signpost to organisations that act responsibly.

A charity founded by Julian Richer in collaboration with the CBI, TUC and FSB, the Good Business Charter (GBC) defines what it means to be a responsible business, working to make ethical practices the accepted norm across UK organisations and helping to shape a fairer, more sustainable future.

Too often, organisations doing the right thing go without the recognition they deserve. The GBC highlights good businesses and celebrates their commitment, setting the standard for others to follow.

What makes the GBC different?

The Good Business Charter’s credibility, clarity and accessibility make it unique. Organisations are required to commit to clear standards, which helps customers, employees and other stakeholders know what a GBC-accredited organisation stands for.

With a straightforward application process and low costs, Good Business Charter accreditation makes it easy for organisations of all sizes and sectors to accredit and showcase their commitment to responsible business.

This transparency and accessibility make the GBC a clear and trusted mark of responsible business across the UK.

What are the 10 components?

To be accredited, your organisation must meet minimum standards across all 10 components (or 9 for charities and public sector bodies). These components represent what is most important to people and society while providing the foundations for lasting business success.

Accreditation provides a clear signal to customers, employees and other stakeholders that your organisation is genuinely committed to people and the planet. The GBC sets a high standard, and to ensure accredited organisations receive the recognition they deserve, the GBC and our partners actively promote the Charter and champion accredited organisations.
